China blasts Malaysia over missing airline

BEIJING – Beijing on Monday blamed Kuala Lumpur for a lack of information about a vanished Malaysia Airlines flight, as tearful relatives of the 153 Chinese passengers aboard voiced frustration with all sides of the response effort. Nearly two-thirds of the 239 people aboard Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 were from China, and if the loss of the aircraft is confirmed, it would be China’s second-worst ever air disaster. The Chinese government “urges the Malaysian side to step up their efforts to speed up the investigation and provide accurate information to China in a timely fashion,” said Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang. “They should also properly manage

BREAKING NEWS: SEE Who Is Claiming Responsibility For Missing Malaysia Plane

More than 24 hours after Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 disappeared from radar, a shadowy group called the Chinese Martyrs’ Brigade has claimed responsibility for it, but officials said the claim could be a hoax.

The group, unheard of before now, sent an email to journalists across China that read: “You kill one of our clan, we will kill 100 of you as pay back,” but the message provided no details of what brought the flight down.

Couple To Die By Hanging For Starving Maid To Death (PHOTO)

A Malaysian couple has been convicted and sentenced to death after being found guilty of causing the death of their maid.

Fong Kong Meng, 58 and his wife Teoh Ching Yen, 56 were said to have starved 26-year-old Isti Komariyah to death.
Isti was said to have weighed 46kg before she started working with the couple but at the time of her death she was a mere 26kg.
Judge Noor Azian Shaari said the couple consistently withheld food from the woman during the three years she worked for them.
“She was 26 and weighed barely 26kg when she was taken to the University Malaya Medical Centre with bruises and scratch marks on her back, arms and forehead,” the Star newspaper reported.
Isti was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. She had weighed 46kg (101lbs) when she first started working for the couple.
The court and the couple’s lawyer could not be immediately reached for comment.
Malaysia relies on an estimated 2 million Indonesians who toil in plantation, construction, factory and domestic work – both legally and illegally.
Allegations of abuse against foreign labourers have included overwork, beatings, sexual abuse and torture.
A Cambodian maid was starved to death in 2012 by her employers, for which they received a 24-year jail sentence. Cambodia had stopped sending maids a year earlier over other abuses, but poor Indonesian women have continued to arrive.
Malaysia has taken steps to improve the welfare of domestic workers, including requiring them to have at least one day off a week and nearly doubling minimum monthly salaries to 700 ringgit (£125). But activists say enforcement is difficult.
The Indonesian embassy estimates 400,000 women work in Malaysia as maids – about half illegally. Indonesian workers account for roughly half of all foreign labourers.

Nigeria’s 8 Most Over Exposed Celebrities

I kinda agree with this list but hey he skipped out Karen Igho...lolz, enjoy:
According to Segun Adekoye - "In this age, everyone has a Blackberry. Everyone has a blog. There are over 5000 entertainment blogs in Nigeria. Everyone wants to break the news but only a few get exclusive content so everyone copy-pastes whether it is true or a lie. In this era, everyone is a celebrity. If you hit the red carpet of events, and a hundred blogs can post your pictures, same pictures and repeat that procedure 4 times in a month, you are a celeb. You can make statements. Fashion statements. You can go to Twitter and start a Tweet war. Dahz all.
The problem with overexposure is that your news does not become news eventually and people go like “oh Tonto.. Now what? Unto the next abeg”. Who are the 8 celebrities in Nigeria who get more press, media attention than they need for their health. In no particular order, Segun Adekoye lists them below.

S.African policemen caught on video assaulting Nigerian citizen

Two South African police officers who were allegedly caught on video taking part in the beating and stripping of an unarmed man on a Cape Town street have been arrested, the police watchdog said on Saturday.
The Independent Police Directorate said the officers, aged 42 and 45 years old, would appear in court on Monday on charges of assault.
On Friday, video footage showing two armed uniformed policemen and private guards punching and kicking a man on a Cape Town street went viral, prompting public outrage.
The man has been identified as Nigerian national Clement Emekensha.
“The arrest would not have happened without the vigilance of the public,” said Moses Dlamini, the spokesman for the police watchdog.
He said other charges may be added.
In the video, a security guard ripped the shirt-less man’s trousers off and then a police officer repeatedly punched and kicked the man in the groin. Another officer held the man by the neck.
His underpants came off as the beating continued, before he was loaded into a police car.
Western Cape police said the guards had not yet been arrested.

Malaysian plane crash:239 passengers, crew missing

malaysia missing plane
A multinational team is searching the sea off South Vietnam, in the hope of finding a Malaysia Airlines flight that has been missing for 24 hours. A Vietnamese search plane saw two possible oil slicks in the area, although there was no confirmation they were related to the disappearance.
Flight MH370 had 239 people including two infants on board, en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur.
Two-thirds of the passengers were from China, while others were from elsewhere in Asia, North America and Europe.
It has been reported that two passengers who were listed on the plane’s manifest – an Italian and an Austrian – were not actually on the flight.
They both reportedly had their passports stolen in Thailand.
Asked whether terrorism was suspected as a reason for the plane’s disappearance, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said: “We are looking at all possibilities, but it is too early to make any conclusive remarks.”
A senior US official told NBC News: “We are aware of the reporting on the two stolen passports. We have not determined a nexus to terrorism yet, although it’s still very early, and that’s by no means definitive.”
Flight MH370 vanished at 18:40 GMT Friday (02:40 local time Saturday).
The plane reportedly went off the radar south of Vietnam, and according to Malaysian Airlines, it last had contact with air traffic controllers 120 nautical miles off the east coast of the Malaysian town of Kota Bharu.
Distraught relatives and loved ones of those on board are being given assistance at both the arrival and departure airports.
Malaysia Airlines chief executive, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said the focus was on helping the families of those missing. He said that 80 per cent of the families had been contacted.
The passengers were of 14 different nationalities, Mr Yahya said.
Among them were 153 Chinese nationals, 38 Malaysians, seven people from Indonesia and six from Australia.
Malaysia and Vietnam have both sent planes and naval vessels to search for the missing flight, and the US is sending the USS Pinckney, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, which could be in the area within 24 hours.
Territorial disputes over the South China Sea were set aside temporarily as China dispatched two maritime rescue ships and the Philippines deployed three air force planes and three navy patrol ships.
Singapore is also involved, while Vietnam sent aircraft and ships and asked fishermen in the area to report any suspected sign of the missing plane.
“In times of emergencies like this, we have to show unity of efforts that transcends boundaries and issues,” said Lt Gen Roy Deveraturda, commander of the Philippine military’s Western Command.
Vietnam’s air force has spotted two possible oil slicks 190km ( 118 miles) from Malaysia, but there is no confirmation they are connected with the plane’s disappearance.
Family and friends of the missing people are being cared for at Kuala Lumpur airport
In the terminal, the arrivals board shows the missing flight in red.
There has been intense media coverage in Beijing, angering some of the relatives.
Friends and relatives expecting to meet passengers from the flight in Beijing were instructed to go to a nearby hotel where officials were meant to be on hand to provide support.
“They should have told us something before now,” a visibly distressed man in his thirties told AFP news agency at the hotel.
“They are useless,” another young man said of the airline. “I don’t know why they haven’t released any information.”
In Kuala Lumpur, Hamid Ramlan, a 56-year-old police officer, said his daughter and son-in-law were on the flight for an intended holiday in Beijing.
“My wife is crying,” he said. “Everyone is sad. My house has become a place of mourning. This is Allah’s will. We have to accept it.”
Malaysia’s national carrier is one of Asia’s largest, flying nearly 37,000 passengers daily to some 80 destinations worldwide.
The Boeing 777 had not had a fatal crash in its 20-year history until an Asiana plane came down at San Francisco airport in July of last year.
Three teenage girls from China died in that incident.
